School governor:
Lifelong resident of Stanwell, Victor was educated at St. Anne's First School and Town Farm Primary. At the age of 17 he joined the Labour Party. At 18 he returned to Town Farm Primary, this time as the country's youngest ever school governor, and at 19 he became the country's youngest chair of school governors.
Borough Councillor: Victor's first electoral experience came in 1995 when at the age of 21 he stood in the Spelthorne Borough Council Elections and trebled the Labour vote in Shepperton Town. In 1998 he was elected as borough councillor for Stanwell North at a by-election by a narrow margin. In 1999 he was returned with a significantly increased majority.
County Councillor: Since 2003 Victor has been the County Councillor for Stanwell and Stanwell Moor, after again being elected in a by-election by a narrow margin, and returning in 2005 to again significantly increase his majority. Since 2005 Victor has been the Labour Group Leader on Surrey County Council, and is deputy member of the Heathrow Airport Consultative Committee.
Employment: Victor has worked for a major British airline since graduating and is an active member of the GMB union, the Fabian Society and Young Fabians.
Education and Qualifications: Victor holds an BSc from the University of Surrey in History and Business Studies. He studied International Business Management at Cameron School of Business at the University of North Carolina, USA. And Philosophy, Anthropology Epistemology and Danish at Roskilde University in Denmark.
Languages: Victor Speaks English, Hindi, French and Danish.
Hobbies and interests: In his spare time Victor likes to play football and is a keen advocate of the arts, including dance, drama and music. He also enjoys travelling having visited many countries right across the world. In 2003 Victor was an International Observer at the first sitting of the African Youth Parliament in Nairobi, Kenya. Amongst the many positive outcomes of his self-funded visit are that links were formed between Spelthorne's Youth Council and Manzini City Youth Council in Swaziland.
